Here in brief, is Stephen A. Schwarzman’s story. Forbes Magazine named Steve the 53rd most wealthy individual in the country just last year, all the same it’s not money which makes this tale gripping but also Steve’s incredible rise to power in the business industry and his patronage of the arts. Steve Schwarzman and Peter Peterson launched the equity management and financial advisory company Blackstone Group in 1985. After calling the Philadelphia area home for much of his childhood, Stephen A. Schwarzman attended school in the School District of Abington. Then he went on to graduate from Yale University in 1969. He set about taking a program of post-graduate study at the well known Harvard Business school near Boston, MA. Then Steve began his career at Lehman Brothers investment bank, based in New York City. Before he reached his 32nd birthday he was already on the board. Stephen A. Schwarzman donates to a range of liberal arts as well as teaching as an associate professor at the legendary Yale School of Management. Further, he is the latest Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. In addition, to give back even more, Steve recently presented to the New York Public Library 100,000,000 dollars to back their recent building plans. They also named their new extension after him.
