Obtain chickens and let them roam freely around the garden. Some individuals prefer to use dead carcasses of animals or meat products – for this, leave them in the trash can, till maggots appear and then use it as a fertilizer.
Another helpful creature is the earthworm because it digs deep into the ground and oxygenates the soil bringing various nutrients to the surface which also provides better water drainage. The casting, which these creepy crawlies leave behind, are enriched in nitrogen phosphorus and potassium, of course, these can also be bought. Organic vegetable gardening is no mean task as you have to in effect, combat several enemies in the process and these include armyworms, crickets, gypsy moth caterpillars, slugs and squash bugs. Previous fertilizers were employed to get your garden free from such pests, but when you go organic, you keep some toads in the garden, which are anticipated to eat up all these and more.
